Barbie in my Christmas Decor..

I was not going to do it...I was going to do no more to the China Cabinet than add Granny's vintage glass ball and the ceramic pieces from my childhood...

But then today I was in the storage closet in my studio getting out something else, before I knew it 5 dolls had escaped and invaded the china cabinet for Christmas.

Actually it all started with these 3 trouble makers from the Barbie and the Nutcracker Collectors Editions.

Left to Right.
Barbie as The Sugar Plum Fairy
Barbie as Flower Ballerina (my favorite)
Barbie as Marzipan

Middle shelf was left Barbie free, but has Family Treasures such as my Grandmothers Cats, More of Granny's antique glass balls, a ceramic train my mother made me when I was a child.

and an English/Dutch copy of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens printed in 1931 that belonged to my father when he was a wee little lad at school.

And lastly we have the only 2 Holiday Barbies I own...Why?...Because I am a design snob and hate most of the Holiday Barbies gowns...But these 2 I love and were both gifts from Farmer Brown...Hope I get this yrs doll also since it is stunning and Designed by none other than the Fabulous Robert Best (Subtle Hint or what)

Good thing I can close the door on these treasures because I an not sure Lil Sara could be trusted around mummy's Barbies.

With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I would share some diorama photographs from the archives..I had so much fun creating this scene back in 2007...The store fronts were created using foam-core and printer transparencies for the "glass"...The lights inside the store windows were simply a set of Christmas Village lights.

This doll was a Limited Edition of 300 by

Angelic Dreamz in New York

She comes complete in her original box/shipper and includes her

"red croc" carrier and all accessories.

They do not come more beautiful than this stunning doll...
Her make-ups neutral color pallet makes her a get doll for redress as she can pull off many different looks.

All her accessories store nicely in one side of her stunning red croc carry case.

With Trapeze is all of her original pieces, including both wigs.
Brunette - with Platinum streaks
Blonde - with Pink streaks.

A few minor flaws on this gal, as she is well loved but also well taken care off...One leg can be a little kicky, as is normal for these types of dolls...Any person able to restring a doll could take care of this no problems.
Her scull cup is not quite centered either but since it would be removed during restringing, this could be rectified at the same time.

A little chipping on the left wrist, and a few dull spots from being redresses and posed for photoshoots.

The paint is missing from the top of the bolt on her right wrist...she arrived to me this way but I am sure it could be covered quit easily with a dob of color matched paint.

This Traz has been working as a Model here at MGD for the past 2.5yrs.

She has been my muse during this time and inspired many of my favorite fashions during her career with me...But now we are both ready to move in different directions...I would like to see her find a great new home surrounded by fabulous Sybs and fashions.

Daughters Surgery is Tomorrow..

Tomorrow is Lil Sara's surgery, please keep us in your prayers over the next few days...Obviously I will be MIA from Dollyland during this time...I am nervous but excited to see my baby finally be able to breath while she sleeps...and all the other lovely positives that come with a child that can actually get restful slumber.

Here she is eating her afternoon snack on her first day of "Head Start" yesterday...I just wish the surgery did not mean that she would miss so much school..

Today is a dark and dismal day in the sunshine state...it is cloudy and rainy and just ickie...What today needs is some YELLOW...

One of my favorite moments on Project Runway was this amazing gown by Jeffery...this gown made me sit up and look at 3 things a new way...the color YELLOW...this is the first time I have LOVED YELLOW...Plaid as something more than a work shirt...I love how unexpected it's use is here...and mixing and matching patterns, scale and print into one garment was such a brave move and exciting awaking for me...I think this is the garment that ready my brain to be introduced to fashion as ART....What more can I say...I *heart* this dress.

Disappointments and Houndstooth

I can not lie, I was more than a little surprised... disappointed... mortified... crushed.... when the lovely Eastern Spot fashion ended with no bids last night...and boo-hooed that I should give up sewing all together...Oh how fun it is to be of an emotional artistic temperament...lol

Then later in the evening as I sat sulking on the couch watching HGTV and drooling over David Bromstad (hey no judging, you know you all do it too ) First as the mentor to this seasons "Design Star" and then in "Color Splash"...hmmm this season's Saturday night lineup is looking pretty good to me with back to back David...YAY...

Oh yer, back to the whoa is me part...Anyway as I am sulking and I watch the creative process of these designers unfold before the camera and the color choices and *Angels sing here* Fabric Selections....I heard the voice of a little piece of herringbone calling me from behind the studio doors....This piece has been patiently waiting for me to fully form in my mind what I want to do with it....Well I think I could almost be there....Now if I can just find some time in the studio this week..

It has been awhile since I made a fashion just for the AvantGuard line of dolls, and though we had some technical difficulties with the photoshoot over the weekend...Finally this morning myself and Miss Goldmine bonded thru the camera lens once more...I actually think she was trying to tell me the first wig I had on her was not working all weekend, but I am a little slow sometimes to pick-up on such things...

Anyway, new wig, new background and VOLIA magic happened...

After a little tweaking, I am finally happy with the new fashion...Actually it became two...

Nothing worse than a work room of nakid models, so I keep a couple of quick easy to slip on muumuu's on hand to cover them up after a photoshoot.

I had forgotten how gorgeous Syd is...
Glad I got her out of the cabinet to do a little modeling the other day.

PAST WORK - OOAK Criss Angel Doll

From 2007, this was the last complete from head to toe OOAK Doll makeover I did.

His received a full face repaint and his factory hair was yanked out and replaced with these lovely long black mohair locks.

His Jeans, Belt, Tshirt, wooly hat and faux leather jacket all original MGD pieces.

His jewelery was customised by myself, as where his super cool Doc Martin boots, which I painstakingly scuffed up to resemble those worn by the real Criss.

Even his finger nails were painted...the only thing I missed back then was the rings Criss wore on his hands..

This doll is Sold and is now part of a private collection.

PAST WORK - Frank N Furter - Sweet Transvestite

In 2009 I had the pleasure of teaming up with the amazing Dawn Anderson of OneSixthSense to create the Iconic Dr Frank-N-Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, from a 13inch Fashion Royalty Homme doll.

It had been a long time dream of mine to create Frankie in all his delicious glory...Thanks to Dawn and her amazing re-paint and re-root talents I was finally able to.

Dawn spared no detail, down to the tattoos and his make-up was flawless...

I created his costume from head to toe (stockings I commissioned especially for Frankie)..As you can imagine there is no patterns out there for these pieces so everything had to be made custom just for our Mad Dr...Even his shoes where customized to resemble those from the movie.

Frankie for me is more than just a Sweet Transvestite but this character was the beginning of a long time appreciation of the amazing body of work by actor Tim Curry...From Stage to Screen, TV to Voice Acting...Even if you do not know it, you have seen or heard Tim's work...Your KIDS have seen or heard his work...He has played some seriously naughty cartoon bad guys...and good guys too...I have to say my next favorite movie by Tim has to be "Muppet Treasure Island"...I just love to hear this man sing.

The hardest thing with this entire project was parting with him once he was completed...He now resides in a private collection in Germany.
